More Than Just Racing at the Las Vegas Grand Prix

How about a trip that mixes Formula One, outstanding entertainment, exciting cities, and stunning landscapes?

When you visit the Las Vegas Grand Prix, you'll discover everything from world-class sports and live shows to breathtaking natural sights.

By planning ahead and choosing the right mix of activities and events, you can turn your Grand Prix trip into an unforgettable holiday. Here’s how to maximise your visit to the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

There’s plenty to do in Las Vegas even during the winter months, and the Grand Prix is perfectly timed in late November when temperatures are milder, making it an ideal time to experience some of the best attractions the city has to offer.

For sports enthusiasts, there's more than just racing

November in Las Vegas is a dream for sports fans. As well as the Grand Prix, the NFL season is in full swing, it’s a perfect time to catch a Las Vegas Raiders game at the Allegiant Stadium. Whether you're a die-hard fan or just enjoy live sports, a Raiders game is a highlight not to be missed.

The Las Vegas Golden Knights, established in 2017, marked Las Vegas' entry into the big leagues of professional sports as its first major franchise. They play in the NHL's Pacific Division, bringing top-tier ice hockey to Nevada in November.

NASCAR Racing Experience

Experience the thrill of driving a NASCAR race car by yourself at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This famous 1.5-mile tri-oval race track features 12 to 20 degrees of banking in the turns, providing a challenging and exhilarating drive. After a drivers' meeting that includes comprehensive training and instruction, you'll get behind the wheel of a genuine NASCAR race car.

Three things to do in Las Vegas that you probably didn't know about

Car enthusiasts will appreciate the Shelby Heritage Center, where more than 30 vintage Shelby cars, including Mustangs and Cobras, are on display. The center provides an insight into the history and impact of Carroll Shelby’s designs and gives visitors a chance to take a VIP tour, including exclusive access to the modification shop.

The Pinball Hall of Fame is a fun and interactive way to explore the history of pinball. This museum is devoted to preserving and showcasing vintage pinball machines from different decades, each with its unique history. Visitors can play on many of the machines.

At the Punk Rock Museum, fans of the genre can dive into a comprehensive collection that celebrates the history, fashion, and culture of punk rock. This museum houses the largest array of punk artifacts spanning over 45 years, including photographs, clothing, instruments, handwritten lyrics, and artwork. Visitors are encouraged to engage directly with the exhibits, including playing guitars donated by renowned punk artists.

Extending your Las Vegas trip beyond the checkered flag

Extending your stay around the Las Vegas Grand Prix can be a smart way to reduce travel costs. Flight prices often soar just before and immediately after the event. By planning a longer visit, you can avoid these peak times.

Consider a trip to Zion National Park, just an hour's drive from Las Vegas. Zion is one of the most visited national parks in the US and offers a stark contrast to Las Vegas with its unique landscapes and trails. If you have additional time, Bryce Canyon National Park is also within reach and well worth the visit.

You can easily rent a car at Las Vegas airport and drive to Springdale, the nearest town to Zion National Park, where many trails start just a short walk from the town center. Although some trails might be closed in the winter, the park is still open, and November often brings crisp, clear days perfect for exploring the great outdoors.

Additionally, consider incorporating a city break into your trip. East Coast cities like New York, Philadelphia, or Washington D.C. make excellent stopovers. For a change of scenery closer to Las Vegas, head out west; San Francisco is just a one-hour flight away.

Race to the Stores

The Formula One Grand Prix in Las Vegas is perfectly timed just one week before Black Friday. From the upscale Forum Shops at Caesars Palace and the elegant Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian Resort to the expansive Miracle Mile Shops inside Planet Hollywood, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to snap up holiday bargains.

To wrap up, the Las Vegas Grand Prix is not just about the racing; it's a full experience that combines Formula One action with exceptional entertainment, vibrant city life, and the stunning natural scenery of Nevada and Utah.
