Getting around during the Hungarian Grand Prix™
In this guide you’ll learn about the different options to help you get around during the Hungarian Grand Prix™.
Each year the Hungaoring appoints an official taxi provider to get fans to and from the circuit over the race weekend. You can usually pre book your taxi to the circuit and the official operators will often have access to a VIP express lane to avoid the worst of the race day traffic. Return transfers by taxi are less streamlined and you can expect long queues as taxis are allocated on a first come first served basis.
Private transfers can also be booked with local taxi and transfer operators however these companies won’t have access to the express lane and they may not be permitted to re enter the circuit for pick-ups due to road closures after the Grand Prix.
If you’re planning to drive yourself you can usually park at the circuit for free, unless you want to splash out for the Super Gold parking to guarantee a spot, and have easy access to the circuit via the express lane.
Trains to the Hungaroring do not operate from Budapest city centre so you’ll need to take the metro out of town and connect onto an overground train heading in the direction of the circuit. A shuttle bus then connects the train to the circuit.
A helicopter transfer is guaranteed to avoid the race weekend traffic and the prices in Hungary are the most reasonable you’ll see at any Grand Prix.
