Where is the Qatar Grand Prix held?
The Qatar Grand Prix takes place at the Lusail International Circuit, in Lusail, around 20 km north of central Doha, the capital of Qatar.
Why go to the Qatar Grand Prix?
The Lusail International Circuit is one of the newest venues on the Formula 1 calendar, having joined the championship in 2021. The race is held at night under floodlights, with the cars running against the desert backdrop. The 5.4 km lap features a sequence of medium and high-speed corners that drivers consistently rate among the most physically demanding on the calendar.
What to expect over three days
Plan for three full days, Friday to Sunday, to see every Formula 1 session and the support races. Friday is practice. Saturday is final practice and qualifying. Sunday is the Grand Prix. The Qatar Grand Prix is sometimes a sprint weekend, with sprint qualifying on Friday and the sprint race on Saturday.
What makes the Qatar Grand Prix special?
The night race format, the demanding circuit, and Doha as a host city. The race begins after sunset and finishes under floodlights, which means daytime heat isn't an issue at the grandstands. Doha offers a modern Gulf city with strong food, museums, and the historic Souq Waqif, all within 20 km of the circuit. The race pairs naturally with a stopover on a long-haul Qatar Airways routing, with onward connections across the world.
