Barcelona Grand Prix

Sunday December 6 2026

The Spanish Grand Prix is held at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, a purpose-built track on the outskirts of the city. The circuit has good facilities and a range of grandstand options, with clear views of the track from most vantage points.<br>Barcelona itself is one of the more well-known cities on the Formula 1 calendar, with a strong food scene, architecture and a coastline within easy reach. It works well as a destination for anyone travelling with people who are less interested in the racing, as there is plenty to do in the city beyond the race weekend. May in Barcelona is typically warm and dry, which makes it a reliable choice for a trip.

Where is the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix held?

The Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix takes place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, in Montmeló, around 30 km northeast of central Barcelona.

Why go to the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix?

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is one of the most familiar tracks on the Formula 1 calendar, used extensively for pre-season testing and known to every team and driver in detail. The circuit hosted the Spanish Grand Prix from 1991 until 2025 before the race name moved to Madrid, and from 2026 the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix continues at the venue. Pairing the race with a few days in Barcelona itself makes for one of the strongest race-weekend trips on the calendar.

What to expect over three days

Plan for three full days, Friday to Sunday, to see every Formula 1 session and the support races. Friday is practice. Saturday is final practice and qualifying. Sunday is the Grand Prix.

What makes the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix special?

The combination of a technical, high-grip circuit and one of Europe's great cities a short train ride away. Barcelona has a strong food and bar scene, the architecture of Gaudí, the Gothic Quarter, and the beaches of Barceloneta, all within easy reach of the centre.
