Austrian Grand Prix

Sunday December 6 2026

The Austrian Grand Prix is held at the Red Bull Ring, a compact circuit set in the hills of the Styrian region. The layout means that from most grandstands you can see around 70% of the track, which is unusual for a Formula 1 venue and makes it one of the better circuits for spectators.

The event also has a strong entertainment offering alongside the racing.

Where is the Austrian Grand Prix held?

The Austrian Grand Prix takes place at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, in the Styria region of Austria. The circuit is around 80 km northwest of Graz and around 200 km southwest of Vienna.

Why go to the Austrian Grand Prix?

The Red Bull Ring is one of the shortest and most picturesque circuits on the Formula 1 calendar, set in the rolling hills of the Styrian countryside. The compact layout means fans can see large sections of the track from a single grandstand, and the atmosphere through the weekend is one of the most relaxed on the calendar.

What to expect over three days

Plan for three full days, Friday to Sunday, to see every Formula 1 session and the support races. Friday is practice. Saturday is final practice and qualifying. Sunday is the Grand Prix.

What makes the Austrian Grand Prix special?

The combination of a short, fast circuit, dramatic elevation changes, and the alpine setting. The Red Bull Ring sits in a natural amphitheatre, with several grandstands offering wide views across the lap. The race usually takes place in late June or early July, when the long Austrian summer evenings give the weekend a particular character.
