Where is the Bahrain Grand Prix held?
The Bahrain Grand Prix takes place at Bahrain International Circuit, in the Sakhir desert, around 30 km southwest of Manama, the capital of Bahrain.
Why go to the Bahrain Grand Prix?
Bahrain International Circuit was the first Formula 1 venue in the Middle East and has 15 corners and four long straights, a layout that produces multiple overtaking zones through the lap. Since 2014, the race has been held at night under floodlights, with the cars running against the desert backdrop. It usually takes place early in the Formula 1 season, making it one of the first opportunities of the year to see the new cars racing competitively.
What to expect over three days
Plan for three full days, Friday to Sunday, to see every Formula 1 session and the support races. Friday is practice. Saturday is final practice and qualifying. Sunday is the Grand Prix.
What makes the Bahrain Grand Prix special?
The night race format and the desert setting. The race begins around sunset and finishes in full darkness under floodlights, which means daytime heat isn't an issue at the grandstands. Free shuttle buses connect several major Manama hotels to the circuit during race weekend, making it one of the easier races on the calendar to attend without hiring a car.
