Where is the United States Grand Prix held?

The United States Grand Prix takes place at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA), in Austin, Texas, around 25 km southeast of central Austin.

Why go to the United States Grand Prix?

The Circuit of the Americas was the first purpose-built Formula 1 venue in the United States and is widely regarded as one of the best modern circuits on the calendar. The lap features a steep uphill run to Turn 1, followed by a sequence of fast esses inspired by Silverstone's Maggotts and Becketts, and a long back straight that ends in one of the heaviest braking zones of the year. The Austin race weekend has built a strong reputation for its atmosphere, music, and food scene around the on-track action.

What to expect over three days

Plan for three full days, Friday to Sunday, to see every Formula 1 session and the support races. Friday is practice. Saturday is final practice and qualifying. Sunday is the Grand Prix. The United States Grand Prix is often a sprint weekend, with sprint qualifying on Friday and the sprint race on Saturday.

What makes the United States Grand Prix special?

The combination of the circuit, Austin as a host city, and the wider Texas trip. COTA's Turn 1, the steep uphill blind corner at the end of the start-finish straight, is one of the most distinctive opening corners on the calendar. Austin offers one of the strongest food, music, and bar scenes in the United States, with live music venues, barbecue joints, and a relaxed pace that pairs well with race weekend. The trip extends naturally to other parts of Texas and the wider American Southwest.
