Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Sunday December 6 2026

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is the final race of the Formula 1 season. That often means championship positions and prize money are still to be decided, which adds to the significance of the weekend. The race starts in daylight and finishes at night. The floodlights come on as the race progresses, which gives the circuit a different atmosphere as the evening develops. Beyond the racing, the weekend includes post-race concerts and a full schedule of support races alongside Formula 1.

Where is the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix held?

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is held at Yas Marina Circuit on Yas Island, around 8 to 10 km from Abu Dhabi International Airport and around 30 km from downtown Abu Dhabi.

Why go to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix?

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is the season finale and the only twilight race on the calendar, starting in daylight and finishing under floodlights. The circuit winds around a marina lined with superyachts and past the illuminated W Abu Dhabi hotel, with concerts every evening and reliably warm late-November weather.

What to expect over three days

A typical Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend runs Friday to Sunday. Friday is for practice. Saturday is final practice and qualifying. Sunday is the Grand Prix. Some race weekends follow a sprint format, with sprint qualifying on Friday and a sprint race on Saturday.

What makes the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix special?

As the final race of the year, Abu Dhabi has hosted some of the biggest moments in modern Formula 1. Sebastian Vettel won his first world championship here in 2010. Nico Rosberg sealed his title here in 2016. In 2021, Yas Marina was the setting for the most talked-about final lap in years, with Max Verstappen passing Lewis Hamilton to take his first championship. And in 2025, Lando Norris sealed his first world championship at the Abu Dhabi season finale.
