The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is in Montmeló, about 20 miles northeast of central Barcelona. Most fans take the train or the shuttle bus.
Train
The R2 line runs from central Barcelona to Montmeló station. It departs from Barcelona Sants, Passeig de Gràcia, and El Clot-Aragó. Trains run up to three times an hour on weekdays and twice an hour on weekends.
Get off at Montmeló station. The walk from the station to the circuit takes around 45 minutes, longer if you’re seated in the North or East sections. Some parts of the walk are uphill. A shuttle from Montmeló station to the circuit usually runs for a small fee.
Shuttle bus
A dedicated shuttle bus runs between l’Estació del Nord in central Barcelona and the circuit during race weekend. Departures are every 5, 10, or 20 minutes depending on the day and time. A three-day pass purchased online in advance is the cheapest way to ride.
Bus transfers also operate from some towns on the Costa Brava.
Taxi and private transfer
The circuit is easily accessible from the highway. Parking permits go on sale close to the event and availability has been very limited in recent years, so don’t count on it. The train and shuttle bus are the more reliable options.

After the race
Montmeló station is small, and queues for trains back to Barcelona can be long. Many fans stop for a drink at one of the small bars in Montmeló to let the worst of the queues thin out before heading back.

I keep going back to these travel companies because they’re reliable, easy to use, and usually have the best value. They’re where I start every time I plan a trip.
Tickets
Motorsport Tickets and Grand Prix Tickets are the two agencies I’ve trusted for years. They’ve always been reliable, easy to deal with, and quick to help if something comes up.
Hotels
ZenHotels is one of my go-to sites for hotel bookings. It pulls prices from loads of smaller sites you might not know about, so it’s great for finding deals. I also check Expedia and Booking.com when I want more options.
Excursions
Viator is packed with walking tours, attraction tickets, and local experiences. It’s especially handy if you’re heading to a new Grand Prix city. It’s a great place to find extras to add to your trip.
