The Miami Grand Prix takes place at the Miami International Autodrome, a temporary circuit built around the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The circuit is around 15 miles north of downtown Miami.
The Miami International Autodrome is a temporary track, rebuilt each year for Formula 1. The lap blends elements of a street circuit with permanent infrastructure, including sections that run over an exit ramp and under highway bridges. The most technical part of the lap is the chicane at Turns 14 and 15, where drivers climb uphill, crest a rise in the middle, and drop sharply on exit.
Heat and humidity are a genuine factor. The race takes place in May, when conditions in south Florida can be physically demanding. Max Verstappen has called it “one of the most physical tracks, especially with the heat and humidity.”
The upper sections of the grandstands are covered. The lower sections are uncovered. Pack accordingly.
The Formula 1 sessions run alongside support races. Recent line-ups have included Porsche Carrera Cup North America and McLaren Trophy America. The full schedule is published on F1.com about four weeks before the race.
How many days should you spend at the Miami Grand Prix?
Plan for three full days, Friday to Sunday, to see every Formula 1 session and the support races.
Miami Grand Prix weekend schedule at a glance
