Vienna is the main gateway to Austria. Most international fans fly into Vienna International Airport (VIE). Graz Airport (GRZ) and Salzburg Airport (SZG) are also options, with a smaller number of direct flights from within Europe.
From Vienna, the Red Bull Ring is just over two hours by road. From Graz, it’s about an hour. From Salzburg, around two hours and 45 minutes.
Getting there by air
Direct flights to Vienna are common from most European hubs and from a number of regional airports. There are also direct services from a number of cities in North America, the Middle East, and Asia.
If your city doesn’t have a direct flight to Vienna, the most common connections are through London Heathrow, Amsterdam, Paris, Munich, Frankfurt, or Zurich.
Graz and Salzburg are served by a smaller number of direct flights from within Europe. Flights to Graz are usually indirect, with a connection through Vienna, Munich, or Frankfurt.
Many fans heading to Graz fly into Vienna instead, where direct flights are more frequent, and take the train down to Graz from there.
Getting there by train
International rail services run from a number of European cities into Vienna and Graz. From Vienna to Graz, direct trains run regularly and the journey takes around two and a half hours.
Getting there by road
Some fans drive from elsewhere in Europe. The drive from the UK is long enough that an overnight stop in Germany is usually needed. Fans from the Netherlands and other parts of central Europe also drive across.
Visa and entry requirements
Many visitors don’t need a visa to enter Austria, but requirements depend on your nationality and personal circumstances.
For visa-exempt nationals, ETIAS travel authorisation is an entry requirement when visiting Austria and other European destinations.
