Estimated Reading Time: 3-4 minutes
The Belgian Grand Prix takes place at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, in the Ardennes forest in eastern Belgium. The circuit is around 40 km from Liège and around 130 km from Brussels.
Spa is the longest circuit on the Formula 1 calendar, at just over 7 km. The lap mixes long straights, fast sweeping corners, and significant elevation changes. The most famous section is Eau Rouge and Raidillon, a left-right uphill flick taken close to flat-out. Other notable points on the lap include Pouhon, a long downhill double-left taken at high speed; Blanchimont, a fast left that leads onto the back of the lap; the Bus Stop chicane at the end of the lap; and La Source, the tight first-corner hairpin.
Spa is known for its micro-climate. Weather at the circuit can change quickly, and it’s not unusual for one part of the track to be dry while another part is wet. Pack for both.
The grandstands are split into Gold and Silver tiers, with General Admission also available. Most Gold grandstands are covered. A few Silver grandstands are now covered as well. General Admission is uncovered.
The Formula 1 sessions run alongside support races such as Formula 2, Formula 3, and the Porsche Supercup. The full schedule is published on F1.com about four weeks before the race.
How often does the Belgian Grand Prix run?
Spa-Francorchamps has been a fixture on the Formula 1 calendar for decades, but Belgium is now part of a rotation arrangement and won’t appear every year. Rotation arrangements can change, so check the current year’s calendar on F1.com before booking.
How many days should you spend at the Belgian Grand Prix?
Plan for three full days, Friday to Sunday, to see every Formula 1 session and the support races.
Belgian Grand Prix weekend schedule at a glance
