Amsterdam is the main gateway to the Dutch Grand Prix. Most international fans fly into Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS), which is one of the best-connected airports in Europe, with direct services from cities across the world.
Getting there by air
Direct flights to Amsterdam Schiphol run from across Europe, North America, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. KLM, the national carrier, runs an extensive network alongside most major international airlines.
Schiphol is around 15 to 20 minutes from Amsterdam Central Station by direct train, and trains run frequently throughout the day.
Getting there by train
The Netherlands has excellent rail connections to the rest of Europe, which makes the train a strong option for many fans, particularly from the UK and northern Europe.
Eurostar runs direct from London to Amsterdam Central in just over four hours. The train takes you into the heart of Amsterdam without the airport procedures at both ends. For UK fans, this is often a more relaxing option than flying.
Direct rail services also connect Amsterdam to Brussels, Paris, Frankfurt, Berlin, and other major European cities.
Getting there by coach
Long-distance coach services run from a number of European cities into Amsterdam. Coach travel is slower than the train but often the cheapest option.
Getting there by ferry
Some fans drive to the Netherlands by ferry from the UK. There are several ferry services between UK ports and the Netherlands. Fans often base themselves in Haarlem rather than Amsterdam, which is a 10-minute train to Zandvoort.
From Amsterdam to Zandvoort
Direct trains run from Amsterdam Central Station to Zandvoort, with the journey taking around 30 minutes. At peak times during race weekend, services run every 10 minutes. The walk from Zandvoort station to the circuit takes around 20 to 30 minutes along the seafront promenade.
The organisation at both ends is exceptional. Queues are kept to a minimum and the system is well set up for the race-weekend volume of fans. Tickets can be bought online or at Amsterdam Central.
A note on day trips
The Dutch Grand Prix is one of the few European races where a same-day return is achievable. Early Sunday morning flights into Schiphol, late Sunday evening departures back, and the short distance from Amsterdam out to Zandvoort make it possible to fly in, watch the race, and fly home the same day. This works from the UK and from many European cities with the right flight timings.
Visa and entry requirements
Many visitors don’t need a visa to enter the Netherlands, but requirements depend on your nationality and personal circumstances.
For visa-exempt nationals, ETIAS travel authorisation is an entry requirement when visiting the Netherlands and other European destinations.
Check the official guidance before booking.

Take the Eurostar from London
For UK fans, Eurostar from London to Amsterdam Central in just over four hours can work out cheaper than flying once you factor in airport transfers, baggage, and the time spent at both ends. It also takes you straight into central Amsterdam.
