The Dutch Grand Prix takes place at Circuit Zandvoort, on the Dutch coast about 30 km west of Amsterdam. The town of Zandvoort sits between the North Sea and the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park, and the circuit runs through the dunes on the edge of town.
Zandvoort is one of the most distinctive layouts on the Formula 1 calendar. The lap is short, twisty, and demanding, with corners that flow one into the next. Tarzanbocht (Turn 1) is a deep braking zone after the start-finish straight and the main overtaking spot on the lap. Scheivlak is a fast, blind right-hander that drops into the dunes. Two banked corners, Hugenholtzbocht at Turn 3 and Arie Luyendykbocht at Turn 14 (the final corner), give the lap a rollercoaster feel and open up multiple racing lines.
The grandstands are mostly uncovered, with only one covered area, which is normally reserved for hospitality. The race takes place in late August, when temperatures on the Dutch coast are usually mild but the weather is changeable.
The Formula 1 sessions run alongside support races. Recent line-ups have included F1 Academy and the Porsche Supercup. The full schedule is published on F1.com about four weeks before the race.
How many days should you spend at the Dutch Grand Prix?
Plan for three full days, Friday to Sunday, to see every Formula 1 session and the support races.
