• What about General Admission?
Estimated Reading Time: 4-5 minutes
Zandvoort is a short, twisty circuit with grandstands clustered around the most action-packed sections. Most overtaking happens at Tarzanbocht, the tight Turn 1 hairpin at the end of the start-finish straight. The Arena section, covering Turns 11 to 13 at the end of the back straight, is the other main overtaking zone.
Having sat in the Turn 1 Tarzan Grandstand myself, I can recommend it. You get the start, the heaviest braking on the lap, and the main overtaking action at Tarzanbocht right in front of you.
The grandstands at Zandvoort are split into Gold, Silver, and Bronze tiers. Gold sits in the most popular locations, Silver around the entry and exit of the main spectator zones, and Bronze at quieter parts of the circuit including the Turn 10 hairpin.
All bookable grandstands at Zandvoort are uncovered. There is one covered area at the circuit, but it’s normally reserved for hospitality guests and isn’t available as a standard grandstand booking.
Where the grandstands are
Main and Pit Grandstands (start-finish straight)
The Main and Pit Grandstands run along the start-finish straight, opposite the pit lane and team garages. From here you see the grid build-up, the start, the cars accelerating away from the line, the pit lane in action through the race, and the chequered flag. The podium ceremony also takes place here.
The upper rows of the Main Grandstand also give you views into the final banked corner (Arie Luyendykbocht), so you see cars as they exit the corner and run down to Turn 1.
Tarzan Grandstand (Turn 1)
The Tarzan Grandstand sits around Turn 1, the tight hairpin known as Tarzanbocht. This is the heaviest braking zone on the lap and the main overtaking spot. The grandstands give views of cars arriving from the start-finish straight, braking hard, and fighting for position into the corner. The opening lap drama is at its best from here.
Arena Grandstands (Turns 11 to 13)
The Arena section sits at the end of the back straight, where cars brake hard for a tight left-right combination. It’s the second main overtaking zone on the lap. The Arena is also one of the loudest parts of the circuit during race weekend, with a strong fan atmosphere across the stands.
Turn 10 Hairpin
The Turn 10 hairpin sits at a quieter part of the circuit, away from the main action. The grandstands here are usually in the Bronze tier and offer a more affordable way to be at the race, though you’ll be further from the main overtaking spots.
A note on General Admission
Zandvoort has General Admission tickets that give access to standing areas around the circuit. It’s a workable budget option if you don’t mind being on your feet for the day, and lets you move between different parts of the circuit through the weekend.
FAQ's
The grandstands all give a good view of some part of the action. The Tarzan and Arena grandstands sit at the two main overtaking spots, and the Main Grandstand covers the start, pit lane, and podium.
At Tarzanbocht (Turn 1) and at the Arena section (Turns 11 to 13).
No. All bookable grandstands at Zandvoort are uncovered. Pack for the changeable Dutch coastal weather.
Variable. The race takes place in late August, when temperatures on the Dutch coast are usually mild. Coastal winds and the occasional shower are common, so pack layers.
Yes, if you don't mind being on your feet. General Admission gives you access to standing areas around the circuit and is the cheapest ticket.
Money-saving tip
Look at the Bronze-tier grandstands
Bronze-tier grandstands sit at quieter parts of the circuit, including the Turn 10 hairpin. You’ll be further from the main overtaking spots, but for fans who want a seat without paying Gold-tier prices, the Bronze stands are a good middle ground between General Admission and the Gold or Silver categories.
