This is the most popular way to attend a Grand Prix. You get a grandstand seat for the race, plus accommodation and everything you need for the weekend. The grandstands put you amongst fellow Formula One fans, and some of the best viewing positions on the circuit are grandstand seats.

FAQ's

The Mexican Grand Prix has one of the most distinctive atmospheres on the Formula One calendar. The fans are passionate and the grandstands are among the loudest of the season. The Foro Sol stadium section is unlike anything else in Formula One, and the podium celebration takes place inside the stadium after the race. The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez sits at over 2,200 metres above sea level, which affects the aerodynamics of the cars and engine performance, creating a genuinely different kind of race. Mexico City itself is a vibrant city with a lot to explore beyond the racing.

Three days, from Friday to Sunday, gives you the full experience. Grandstand tickets are sold as three-day packages, so you will see all the practice and qualifying sessions as well as the race itself and the support series.

Tickets typically go on sale shortly after the previous year's Grand Prix.

Flights are generally released around 50 weeks before travel, though this varies by airline.

Many hotels in Mexico City are available to book more than a year in advance.

Late October in Mexico City is generally mild. Daytime temperatures typically range from around 18 to 24 degrees Celsius, cooling in the evenings. October marks the end of the rainy season, so occasional showers are possible.

Where you’d be staying

Condesa. It’s a leafy, walkable neighbourhood of Art Deco buildings, parks, cafés and restaurants, with a relaxed feel to it in the evening. It also sits on Línea 9 of the metro, with Chilpancingo station in the heart of it, and that’s the line that takes you out to the circuit.

The alternative is Reforma, the city’s main business and government district, with a mix of mid-range and chain hotels. It’s well connected to public transport, with easy access to the airport and the historic centre.

Getting to the circuit

The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is well connected to central Mexico City by metro, and that’s how most fans get there. There’s no parking at the circuit for grandstand ticket holders, and Mexico City traffic is heavy at the best of times, so driving is rarely the easiest option.

Línea 9, the brown line, is the one you want. It runs from central Mexico City out to the circuit area, with three stations close to the venue. It also stops at Chilpancingo in Condesa, which is why Condesa is such a practical base for the Grand Prix. If you stay in Reforma, it’s one change of train to connect onto the brown line.

Tickets are inexpensive. You buy them at the booth in any metro station, or with a metro smart card.

Trains run throughout the day, so you’re on your own schedule. Get there early or leave late for the support races that run alongside the Formula One.
