Where is the Azerbaijan Grand Prix held?
The Azerbaijan Grand Prix takes place at the Baku City Circuit, a street circuit in the centre of Baku. The track runs along the boulevards of the modern city, around the walls of the UNESCO-listed Old City, and along the Caspian seafront.
Why go to the Azerbaijan Grand Prix?
The Baku City Circuit is one of the most distinctive layouts on the Formula 1 calendar, mixing a 2 km straight where cars approach speeds of over 350 km/h with a tight, twisty section through the Old City. The races are consistently dramatic, with safety cars, red flags, and shock results a regular feature, and the city itself is one of the most distinctive Grand Prix host cities to spend a weekend in.
What to expect over three days
Plan for three full days, Friday to Sunday, to see every Formula 1 session and the support races. Friday is practice. Saturday is final practice and qualifying. Sunday is the Grand Prix.
What makes the Azerbaijan Grand Prix special?
The combination of a true street circuit and an unusual host city. The lap winds past the Maiden Tower and the Shirvanshah's Palace inside the Old City walls, with the track narrowing to around 7.6 metres at one point. Most central Baku hotels are within walking distance of the grandstands, which makes the Azerbaijan Grand Prix one of the more fan-friendly races on the calendar.
