Milan is the best base for an Italian Grand Prix weekend. The city has a wide range of hotels at every price level and good train connections to the circuit.
If you’re using the train to reach Monza (the most popular option), staying near Milan Central station keeps the commute short. If you’d rather be in the heart of the city for the evenings, central Milan hotels are only a few metro stops from Milan Central.

Bergamo
Bergamo is a smaller alternative base, with a mix of independent and mid-range chain hotels. Direct train and shuttle bus services run from Bergamo to Monza, although the commute is longer than from central Milan. Worth considering if you’re flying in via Bergamo Airport.
• Starhotels Cristallo Palace Bergamo »

Lake Como
If you’d rather have the racing as part of a wider trip, v is a scenic alternative base. The travel time to Monza is longer than from Milan, so it’s a less practical race-weekend choice. A common approach is to stay in Milan for the race itself and spend a few days on the lake afterwards.

I keep going back to these travel companies because they’re reliable, easy to use, and usually have the best value. They’re where I start every time I plan a trip.
Tickets
Motorsport Tickets and Grand Prix Tickets are the two agencies I’ve trusted for years. They’ve always been reliable, easy to deal with, and quick to help if something comes up.
Hotels
ZenHotels is one of my go-to sites for hotel bookings. It pulls prices from loads of smaller sites you might not know about, so it’s great for finding deals. I also check Expedia and Booking.com when I want more options.
Excursions
Viator is packed with walking tours, attraction tickets, and local experiences. It’s especially handy if you’re heading to a new Grand Prix city. It’s a great place to find extras to add to your trip.
FAQ's
In Milan. The city has a wide range of hotels and quick train connections to Monza.
Both work. Hotels near Milan Central give you the shortest commute to the circuit. Central Milan hotels are a few metro stops away and give you better access to evening dining and sightseeing.
Bergamo is a workable alternative, particularly if you're flying into Bergamo Airport. Lake Como is more scenic but adds travel time on race days. Many fans split the trip, staying in Milan for the race weekend and moving to the lake afterwards.
Money-saving tip

Hotels in this area give you the shortest commute to the circuit and are often more practical (and sometimes cheaper) than hotels in the more central tourist quarters. The metro from Milan Central also gets you into the heart of the city in minutes.
