The Singapore Grand Prix takes place at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, a floodlit street circuit in the centre of Singapore. The track winds through Marina Bay and along the city’s harbour front, with skyscrapers and landmarks visible from the grandstands.
Singapore was the first ever night race in Formula 1, introduced in 2008. The race takes place under floodlights in the evening, which is part of what makes the event distinctive.
The Marina Bay Street Circuit is one of the most physically demanding races on the calendar. The lap is tight, bumpy, and lined with concrete walls. There’s no run-off. Combined with high temperatures and humidity at race time, this is consistently rated by drivers as one of the toughest weekends of the year.
The grandstands at Marina Bay are uncovered. The race takes place in October, when Singapore is hot and humid, with monsoon rain a regular feature. Pack accordingly.
The Formula 1 sessions run alongside support races. Recent line-ups have included Porsche Carrera Cup Asia and F1 Academy. The full schedule is published on F1.com about four weeks before the race.

Plan for three full days, Friday to Sunday, to see every Formula 1 session and the support races.
Singapore Grand Prix weekend schedule at a glance
A typical Formula 1 weekend runs Friday to Sunday. Friday is practice. Saturday is final practice and qualifying. Sunday is the Grand Prix.
Each year, a handful of Grand Prix follow a sprint format. On a sprint weekend, Friday includes practice and sprint qualifying. Saturday includes the sprint race and Grand Prix qualifying. Sunday is still the Grand Prix. Sprint weekends rotate around the calendar each season, so check the current year’s schedule on F1.com.
