Estimated Reading Time: 4-5 minutes
The Red Bull Ring is in the countryside, with limited accommodation in Spielberg itself. A small number of hotels are within close range of the circuit, including one at the circuit itself, but availability is the catch. After years of booking trips for fans, I’ve found these rooms are almost always pre-booked by teams, F1 personnel, and the media well before they reach the public.
Most fans base themselves further away and travel to the circuit each day.
The three main options are Vienna, Graz, and a chalet or holiday home in the Styrian countryside. Camping at the circuit is also popular.
Vienna
Vienna gives you the widest choice of hotels at every price level. It’s also one of the most rewarding cities in Europe to spend a few extra days in. The drive to the Red Bull Ring is just over two hours, so plan for early starts and late finishes on race days.
Hotels in Vienna:
Radisson Blu Style Hotel
Hotel Kaiserhof Wien
Graz
Graz is about an hour from the circuit, which makes it the more practical base. The choice of hotels is smaller than Vienna, but covers most budgets. The city also runs a Formula 1 themed fan event during race week.
Hotels in Graz:
Austria Trend Hotel Europa Graz
Radisson Hotel Graz
Chalets and holiday homes in Styria
Styria has a high number of holiday homes and chalets, mostly aimed at the winter ski season. Since the Grand Prix is in summer, rates are often lower and availability is better than in winter.
Properties worth considering:
Club Hotel am Kreischberg
Woody Park Chalet
Camping at the circuit
Several campsites operate at the Red Bull Ring, and some offer pre-pitched tents so you don’t need to bring your own gear.
The campsites vary in atmosphere. Some can be rowdy. If you want somewhere quieter, or you’re travelling with family, it’s worth doing some research before booking.

Money-saving tip
Look at chalets and holiday homes in Styria
Most Austrian chalets are aimed at the winter ski season. The Grand Prix runs in summer, when rates are often lower and availability is better. For a group, a chalet often works out cheaper per person than hotel rooms.
