The Hungaroring sits in a natural bowl, with grandstands wrapped around the circuit. The bowl shape means many of the grandstands give wide views across large sections of the track, especially the ones around the final sector.
Most of the on-track overtaking happens at Turn 1, at the end of the start-finish straight. The final sector also rewards close racing, with the chicane at Turns 11 and 12 occasionally producing late-braking moves.
Having sat in most of the grandstands here myself, my view is that there’s no bad seat at the Hungaroring. Choose the part of the lap you most want to watch and go from there.
The grandstands are uncovered, except for the upper section of the main grandstand, which is sold as the Hungaroring Platinum. Budapest can be very hot in summer, and sudden downpours aren’t uncommon, so pack for both.
Hungaroring Grandstand
The main grandstand runs along the start-finish straight, opposite the pit lane. From here you see the grid build-up, the start, the cars accelerating to Turn 1, the pit lane in action through the race, and the chequered flag.
It’s sold in two sections. The lower section is the Hungaroring Grandstand, which is uncovered. The upper section is the Hungaroring Platinum, which is covered. The Platinum is the only covered seating at the circuit.
Turn 1 Grandstand
Turn 1 is the main overtaking zone at the Hungaroring. The grandstand sits at the end of the long start-finish straight, where drivers brake hard for the first corner. First-lap action and late-braking moves through the race both happen here.
Grid Grandstands
The Grid Grandstands sit just past the start-finish line, with a clear view of the start and the pit lane. A good spot for the pre-race build-up and for following pit strategy through the race.
Fan, Apex, and Grand Prix Grandstands
These grandstands sit over the final sector, looking across Turns 11 to 14. Drivers wrestle through a tight chicane and a slow left-hander before the run onto the main straight. Mistakes here can cost a driver positions all the way back to Turn 1.
The bowl shape of the circuit gives these grandstands wide views across other parts of the lap as well.
General Admission
The Hungaroring has General Admission tickets for fans on the tightest budgets.
That said, the grandstand tickets at the Hungarian Grand Prix are some of the best value on the Formula 1 calendar. If a grandstand seat is anywhere within reach, this is one of the easier races to make that work.
