Estimated Reading Time: 4-5 minutes
The Red Bull Ring is in the countryside. Spielberg has very little accommodation. The few hotels near the circuit fill quickly. One sits at the circuit itself, but after years of booking trips for fans, I’ve found those rooms are almost always taken by teams, F1 personnel, and media before they reach the public.
Most fans base themselves further away and travel in each day.
The main options are Vienna, Graz, or a chalet or holiday home in the Styrian countryside. Camping at the circuit is also popular.
Vienna
Vienna gives you the widest choice of hotels across every price range. It’s also worth a few extra days if your schedule allows. The drive to the Red Bull Ring is just over two hours, so plan for early starts on race days.
Hotels in Vienna:
Radisson Blu Style Hotel »
Hotel Kaiserhof Wien »
Graz
Graz is about an hour from the circuit, which makes it the more practical base. The hotel choice is smaller than Vienna but covers most budgets. The city also runs a Formula 1 fan event during race week.
Hotels in Graz:
Austria Trend Hotel Europa Graz »
Radisson Hotel Graz »
Chalets and holiday homes in Styria
Styria has plenty of holiday homes and chalets. Most are aimed at the winter ski season, which works in your favour for the Grand Prix. Summer rates tend to be lower and availability is generally better
Properties worth considering:
Club Hotel am Kreischberg »
Woody Park Chalet »
Camping at the circuit
Several campsites operate at the Red Bull Ring. Some offer pre-pitched tents, so you don’t need to bring your own equipment.
The atmosphere varies. Some sites can be noisy at night. If you’re travelling with family or you’d prefer somewhere quieter, it’s worth checking individual campsite reviews before you book.
Best booking resources for F1 trips
Planning the trip is the fun part for some and a chore for others.

Hotels
ZenHotels is one of my go-to sites for hotel bookings. It pulls prices from many smaller sites you might not know about, which makes it good for finding deals. I also check Expedia and Booking.com when I want more options.
Excursions
Viator is full of walking tours, attraction tickets, and local experiences. It’s especially handy if you’re heading to a new Grand Prix city. It’s a good place to find extras to add to your trip.
Money-saving tip
Look at chalets and holiday homes in Styria
Most Austrian chalets are aimed at the winter ski season. The Grand Prix runs in summer, when rates are often lower and availability is better. For a group, a chalet often works out cheaper per person than hotel rooms.
