Which grandstand is right for you?
✔ Want to experience the race-day buzz? Main Grandstand Start/Finish Straight.
✔ Looking for big overtakes and close battles? North, West and South Grandstands
✔ Enjoy fast, technical sections? Marina Grandstand

Yas Marina Circuit is known for its stunning setting and unique layout. The most defining feature is the 1.2 km back straight between Turns 5 and 6, followed by a heavy braking zone into Turn 6 (West Grandstand). This is historically the prime overtaking spot, with another good opportunity at Turn 9 (South Grandstand). If you're after action, these are the zones to focus on.
Picture
Main Grandstand
The Main Grandstand runs along the start and finish straight, directly opposite the garages and pit lane. From here, you can see the teams in action and follow every pit stop as it unfolds. It’s also where the grid forms before lights out. Seats on the right-hand side put you directly across from the podium, with a view of the post-race interviews and celebrations.

West Grandstand

The West Grandstand is one of the best places to watch the racing if you want to see overtaking. It sits at the heavy braking zone into Turn 6, a spot where drivers often go wheel-to-wheel. You’ll also see the cars reappear between Turns 15 and 16 as they approach the end of the lap. Seats on the left-hand side give you a clear view down the main straight as well. This grandstand gives you a broad view and consistent action.

North Grandstand
The North Grandstand wraps around the hairpin at Turn 5. This is one of the slowest corners on the circuit, and one of the most telling. Cars arrive fast, then brake hard, bunching up as drivers look for a way through. It’s a place where you’ll often see real battles for position, especially on the opening laps. In 2021, this is where Max Verstappen made the pass that sealed the title. The layout also holds the sound, so when something happens, the reaction from the crowd feels even bigger.

South Grandstand

The South Grandstand gives you a clear view of the cars as they exit Turn 8 and head into the heavy braking zone at Turn 9. This is one of the best overtaking spots on the circuit. You’ll also catch the cars in the distance as they wind through the marina section between Turns 10 and 11, adding some variety to your view.

Marina Grandstand
The Marina Grandstand sits between Turns 8 and 9, looking out toward the marina and the Yas Hotel. From here, you’ll see the cars accelerate out of Turn 8 and brake hard into Turn 9, then catch sight of them again as they sweep through the fast, flowing section around Turns 10 and 11. If you’re drawn to speed and scenery, this is one of the most visually striking spots on the circuit. The illuminated Yas Hotel and rows of docked superyachts give it a unique atmosphere, especially as day turns to night.

Understanding the different ticket categories at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
There are two main types of tickets: standard and premium. Both give you exceptional views, so don't be put off if your ticket isn't in the premium category.

In the past, all tickets were categorised the same in all grandstands. But as fans began to realise that some sections offered slightly more advantageous views, a premium tag was added to certain areas. These are typically in the West, Main, and North Grandstands.

For example, in the Main Grandstand, premium seats are likely to include the sections that face directly towards the podium, giving fans a clear view of the post-race celebrations. In the West Grandstand, seats toward the left-hand side are often classed as premium because they also offer a distant view down the start/finish straight in addition to the action happening right in front of you.

Premium sections are a nice bonus, but they’re not make-or-break. If those tickets aren’t available or don’t work with your budget, you’ll still have a great view and a solid race-day experience.

You may also come across the Yas Suite category. This is a basic hospitality option that combines the atmosphere of the grandstands with a little extra comfort and convenience. I like to compare the Yas Suite to flying in Premium Economy—the benefits can make a noticeable difference without breaking the bank.

Yas Suites are located in the upper levels of the Main, West, and North Grandstands. You simply step out of the lounge and into your reserved seat. Another benefit of the Yas Suite is its elevated position at the rear of the grandstand, which provides a better vantage point. The cool air-conditioned surroundings of the Yas Suite also provide some welcome respite from the desert heat.

You may also see South and West Club tickets. These include a seat in the grandstand plus access to an area behind the stand where you can buy food and drink. The main advantage is that you don’t need to walk to the main fan zone areas to use facilities or find refreshments, which can save you time and help you avoid queues.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which grandstand has the best view of the start and finish?
The Main Grandstand runs along the start and finish straight. It’s the best place to see the grid, pit stops, and podium celebrations.

Where can I see the most overtaking?
The West Grandstand is positioned at Turn 6, a key overtaking zone. The South Grandstand at Turn 9 also sees frequent action.

What’s special about the North Grandstand?
It wraps around the hairpin at Turn 5. It’s one of the tightest corners on the track, great for seeing cars bunch up and battle for position.

Is the Marina Grandstand a good option?
Yes, especially if you want a scenic view. It faces the Yas Hotel and marina, with sightlines through a fast, flowing section of the track.

Are premium tickets worth it?
Premium seats offer slightly more advantageous views—like facing the podium or having extra track visibility—but standard seats still provide a great race-day experience.

What’s the Yas Suite?
It’s a mid-level hospitality option with lounge access, air conditioning, and reserved grandstand seats. It’s a step up in comfort without a huge price jump.

What are South and West Club tickets?
They include a grandstand seat and access to a private area behind the stand for food, drinks, and facilities. It’s a practical upgrade that helps avoid queues.

What is Abu Dhabi Hill?
Abu Dhabi Hill is a general admission area; therefore, there are no grandstand seats included. You’ll stand or sit on the ground to watch the Grand Prix, and it’s first come, first served for the best spots.
